Before uploading a contact list to the Impaxio platform, make sure there are no duplicate phone numbers (find out why). To check whether your contact list contains duplicates, you can use some functions in excel (Find and remove duplicates - Microsoft Support).
Duplicate phone numbers occur, for example, when participants share mobile phones (e.g. within a household). For the survey implementation, every unique phone number receives the survey (phone number is a unique identifier). The question then is to which participant you would like to allocate the data to (and use their salutation/name in the intro message).
As an input, we would like to share the approach we commonly recommend for this case:
- If there is more than one participant with the same phone number, randomly select one participant for inclusion in the survey implementation.
- Keep track of the random selection to consider it later in the data analysis.
- The salutation/name in the intro message reflects the salutation/name of the randomly selected participant
- In repeat survey rounds, stick to the initial random selection (to have a consistent data for the selected participant).
