Issues with Contact Uploads

Here are some tips and tricks in case you have troubles uploading your contact lists.

Duplicates:

Every phone number can be entered only once in each project. The number needs to be unique, otherwise sending survey wouldn't work or for broadcasts you would end up sending duplicates. This is why the system automatically checks for duplicate phone numbers and refuses contact additions / uploads that have duplicates. If this is the case, you will be shown an error message. Remedy: Check your data files for duplicates and check whether some of the numbers you want to add may already be in your contact database on the platform.

Invalid CSV Files:

The system only accepts semicolon-delimited csv files for contact data uploads. This means that the columns (firstname, name, phone number, etc) need to be seperated by semicolon for each contact entry. Check if your CSV is delimited by semicolon (open in Windows Editor).

If you have no experience with csv files or you run into problems, here's an alternative solution (on Windows):

  • Right click on the csv file you would like to upload and select the programme "Editor"
  • Check whether there are semicolon (;) or comma (,") seperating the columns.
  • If the file is seperated by comma you have to replace all commas by semicolons. In the editor, press STRG+H (or CRTL+H). A form is shown, in the above field add what is to be replaced (,) and in below field add the replacement (;). Click on replace. Save and close the file.
